NEWS FLASH - I found a Stuckeys in Alabama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Best Western had a pretty decent breakfast this morning. On the road by 7:00 with very comfortable driving conditions. After I got into Alabama, it looked like it was going to rain, so rather than get caught in it before it's to late, I put on my rain gear. It kept looking like it would rain all through Alabama, then Mississippi, and into La. I wanted to take it off since it hadn't rained yet, but as soon as I do - it will start, so by keeping them on I was trying to drive off the evil gods of rain. That only worked so far. By mid La., it was on again, off again rain. Fortunately, it didn't last for much more that about 10 min apiece, but some of it was intense. There were a couple big bolts of lightening and loud claps of thunder that just about blew me off the bike. One thing I remembered the hard way is you're supposed to make sure your top part of the rain gear comes OVER the bottom part so it doesn't leak into your dry clothes. (I can be really stupid sometimes) Part of I-10 is a looooooong bridge - probably better than 15 miles - that goes over a swamp. You just don't get that kind of land in Mentor. This was one of those spots that I wish they had one of those scenic view turnout areas. Now I'm not a real fan of stopping along the way for pictures, but this was one of those spots. It's just kind of difficult to pull of to the side of the interstate with trucks roaring by at 70mph while you put the bike in nuetral, set the sidestand, take off your helmet and earpiece, search for the camera and take a picture, then do it all in reverse and hope you don't get killed getting back on the road.
More tomorrow. GO CAVS!!
